Boone went out to feed the ducks the other morning and was greeted by two freshly hatched ducklings that came waddling out from underneath the duck house!
We knew we had a broody mama but didn’t think much of it. Apparently we need to give her more credit in the future. I mean, we did recently hatch baby ducklings with our new incubator! (Homeschooling is my favorite.)
Unfortunately we were not prepared enough to know that we should have separated them from the rest of the flock and they did not make it. Heartbreaking lessons learned on the homestead, but death is just a part of life. We are so sorry, little ones. We know better for next time.
